A restyle is a different job — the barber maps a new shape to your jaw and growth pattern, and it may take two visits to get there, because cutting to the final line in one go removes the hair needed to judge density. Ask the barber to show you the neck line before you leave the chair — it is the line you will maintain at home, and most men shave it too high, which makes the beard look thinner from the side. Washing two or three times a week with a beard shampoo, not shower gel, keeps the skin under it from flaking; a few drops of oil after a shower keep longer beards from wiring out.
