Three Strange Meetings - Part Two

One day, I had the idea to Google who from Russia had opened beauty coworking spaces in the U.S. I came across an article about a woman who had opened a beauty coworking space in the heart of New York City. The name of the coworking space was also mentioned. I found them on Instagram and sent a message to the administrator asking to be connected with the director.

I was given the woman's personal page. I messaged her, but received no response. I then asked for her Telegram account since she wasn't responding to direct messages on Instagram. Eventually, we connected and scheduled a call.

On the call, we quickly hit it off. Just like in the first part of my story, we had a "match" in terms of business interests, and everything seemed aligned. We both recognized the global problems that the app could solve, and we believed that together, we could dominate this market in the industry.

We agreed that her beauty professionals would install and test the app. However, my payment system was set up for Russian banks, which didn’t fully meet the needs of the American market. To make it work in the U.S., a company would need to be set up there, and we’d need to connect to the right payment systems.
On our next call, I asked her to make a list of how she envisioned our collaboration: what she could provide, what she wanted from my project, and the potential shares, etc. This was to lay the groundwork for drafting a memorandum of understanding.

At that time, I was still considering the possibility of moving to the U.S. on a tourist visa, but my entry was denied.
On another call, my potential partner told me that she was ready to cooperate, but only if I gave up at least 40% of the project. I asked, “What can you provide in exchange for such a percentage?” Her response: “Nothing. Just my expertise and potential investors, up to $100,000.”
At that point, we both realized that nothing good would come of this. Once again, I was reminded that people who have no experience with IT development are not the right partners for such projects.

But there was a third meeting, and I’ll share that in the next post!
