How to choose an event hall: capacity, layout and logistics

A hall that looks perfect in photos can still be the wrong choice. Judge a space on the things that decide whether the event actually works: capacity in your format, the technical fit, and the logistics.

Capacity in your layout

The headline capacity is almost always the standing figure. A seated dinner fits far fewer people in the same room, and a stage or dancefloor eats into it further. Ask for the number in your exact format — banquet, theatre, reception — not just the maximum.

Technical fit and rules

Check the sound insulation and any noise curfew, whether a PA, projector and screen are included, and the available power. Confirm the catering and drinks rules early — they shape your whole budget.

Logistics

Setup and load-in time, step-free access for suppliers, the latest finish, and parking or transport for guests decide how smooth the day feels. Get these in writing before the deposit.

  • Capacity in your exact layout
  • Noise curfew + sound insulation
  • AV and power included?
  • Catering rules, access, parking
