Published on August 14, 2026What's included in an event hall rental — and what it costs
Event halls price by the hour, the evening or the day, and the headline rate is only the start. The extras — staffing, AV, catering rules and the deposit — usually decide the real cost.
What the base rate usually covers
A standard rental includes the room, tables and chairs, basic lighting and often heating and Wi-Fi. Larger venues may include a cloakroom and basic cleaning. AV, a stage, staffing and security are typically billed on top.
The extras to ask about
- Catering — in-house only, or an external caterer with a corkage fee?
- AV and staff — sound, projection, a technician, door and bar staff.
- Deposit and insurance — a damage deposit and sometimes event insurance.
- Overtime and cleaning — going past the end time gets expensive.
How to budget
Add setup and clean-up hours to the event itself — that's the time you actually pay for. For anything over a few hours, a day or evening rate usually beats stacking hourly blocks, and it removes the pressure of a hard cut-off.
