Renting a salon chair: hourly, monthly or commission — which fits
When you rent a space in a salon, the pricing model matters as much as the rent itself. The three common ones suit very different stages of a career.
Hourly or daily
Pay only for the time you use. Ideal while your book is still growing or if you work a few days a week — no commitment, but the highest cost per hour once you're busy.
Fixed monthly rent
A flat fee for a station, whatever you earn. Once your calendar is close to full this is usually the cheapest per client, and every extra booking is pure upside. Watch the notice period.
Commission split
The salon takes a percentage instead of rent. Lowest risk while you build a clientele — you pay more only when you earn more — but it eats into a full book. Many pros start on commission and switch to fixed rent later.
- Growing book → hourly/daily
- Full book → fixed monthly
- Just starting → commission
