I bought this as I was using the hair serum from the same brand, I also bought the conditioner. The smell is herbal, a bit like the smell of a hotel spa. The shampoo is thin and doesn't lather well (despite emulsifying with wet hands first) but it's sulphate free and this seems quite common. I can't say whether it made any difference to my hair, the shampoo ran out way before the conditioner and I gave up using the serum half-way through the second bottle as it didn't seem to be doing a lot for my hair texture or volume. This is just my opinion and experience, it seems a lot of people like it, looking at other reviews.
