I think I prefer the lotion. I wanted to get the spray for making it easier to apply to my kid but I find the scent isn't as noticeable in the spray and its harder to get good coverage. I will definitely use it and it'll be great for when we are actually at the beach and doing a re-apply, but I think I'm going to stick to the lotion.
