I originally started with the Osmosis Quench moisturizer and really liked it. I chose to try Hydrate specifically because of how it’s described online, since my skin is quite dry and dehydrated, the claims about giving a soft, energized glow and encouraging suppleness made it sound like the better fit for my skin’s needs. Unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience, as I found it to be quite mattifying. Based on the website descriptions, Hydrate Plumping is presented as the more advanced and deeply hydrating option, with its focus on plumping, restoring elasticity, and really “quenching” the skin. I also stocked up during last year's Black Friday sale (a lot), so it took me a while to actually get around to trying Hydrate. That’s one of the downsides of buying in bulk, you can’t test products right away, and first impressions get delayed. Now that I’ve finally used Hydrate, I have to say I’m surprised and disappointed. Based on how it’s marketed, I expected it to be more hydrating than Quench, but in my experience, it isn’t, not even close. Instead of the soft, energized glow I was expecting, it left my skin looking and feeling more matte, which is exactly the opposite of what my dehydrated skin needs. This feels like it would be better suited for oily skin types.
