This was a blind buy based on the recommendations of reliable friends. I have to say, at first smell… I felt like I’d made the wrong decision. So I left it on my arm for a bit to see how I felt and went about my business. I found myself going back to it. After 30 mins, the extremely green nose smell dried down a bit. So I put some more on. It got better and I started to really think this was a grower, not a shower. Short time later, I covered myself with more and went about my business. Before I knew it, I truly appreciated this for what it is. Understated, and truly remarkable. It is so clean, but also has a musky and comforting note in the base. I could happily wear this in the office, and also On a casual weekend out, walking the dogs, perhaps having some drinks. The purpose of this fragrance is for you to wear it, not it wear you. I have fragrances for when I want people to notice it, when I am being overtly sociable. This is has a different purpose. It is confident in itself, and will compliment you when you are doing the same. It isn’t “date night”, it is “I am content, confident, and this breathes life”. If I had to compare it to another fragrance, I’d say it is akin to Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. However, the key difference is instead of having a slightly floral note, it goes from green, raw hazelnut to roasted hazelnut. The dry down is what separates this from GT. I love both for similar reasons, but they serve different environments and moments.
