Have been using this gradual tan for a couple of years now and find it very easy to use and pretty failsafe. I used to apply it with my hand but recently started to use a tanning mit which does make for a better application but you can definitely apply with just your hand. I've found I can apply this without having exfoliated the previous day and the tan is very natural. Using a couple of days in a row gives a slightly deeper tan. I've recently bought it for my daughter and she finds it a very natural tan and easy to apply
