This really works well on it's own as a mattifier, under foundation to keep make-up in place all day, or over make-up to touch up any break-through shine in T-zone area. It is more liquid than creamy at application, fills any pores so the skin surface is even for smooth application of make-up but I took off a star because it doesn't particularly have a pleasant fragrance and I have not noticed any skin softening benefits.
