When sterilized with alcohol, the pretty bronze metallic finish came off. The roller does not have that shiny look anymore. The bronze is now patchy with white plastic coming through. This happened when I left my roller to soak for ten minutes after my first time using it. It is expected that the roller is cleaned with alcohol before and after every use to prevent infection, so I was very surprised that the finish started coming off after just one use. It works well overall, even though looks ugly now. However, it makes a squicky noise when used. I don't know why and if it is ok for all rollers? Bottom line, it seems to cost extra for the finish that will come off right away, and makes a weird noise when used!
